Ms. Irene Baaba Hagan is an esteemed Independent Non-Executive Director who joined the Board of GT Bank Ghana in September 2019. With a wealth of experience and qualifications in finance, governance, risk, and compliance, she brings a valuable perspective to the organization.
Irene is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, showcasing her commitment to professional excellence. She is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor, with expertise in both local and international audit, finance, and compliance practices. Throughout her career, she has worked with FTSE 100 clients in the financial and telecommunications industries, contributing to their success through her exceptional skills.
In the early stages of her career, Irene was associated with KPMG, UK, where she worked in the Assurance practice within the Infrastructure & Government Group. She then transitioned to Pricewaterhousecoopers, holding positions in both London (U.K) and Boston, MA (U.S.A). At Pricewaterhousecoopers, she led diverse teams in delivering high-quality engagements encompassing risk assurance, audit services, IT consulting, internal and external audits, controls reporting, business process re-engineering, SOX 404 compliance, and finance effectiveness advisory.
Irene’s professional journey also includes significant contributions to Vodafone Plc, United Kingdom, and Vodafone Ghana, where she held various roles and steadily rose to a senior management position. Her expertise and insights in finance and telecommunications industry dynamics were instrumental in her success within the organization.
Beyond her corporate engagements, Irene is the founder of IHagan Consult, a reputable consultancy practice that offers corporate advisory and capacity-building services across a wide range of industries. Her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to sharing knowledge and expertise have made her a sought-after advisor in the business community.
Irene holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Accounting & Finance from The London School of Economics and Political Science, reflecting her strong educational foundation. She further pursued her professional development by obtaining an MBA from the Hult International Business School in Massachusetts, USA. Irene’s dedication to her profession is also evident in her role as the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) contact member and ambassador in Ghana, where she actively contributes to the accounting profession’s growth and development.
