Board Member, Electricity Company of Ghana
Ing. (Mrs) Carlien Dorcas Bou-Chedid is a Civil Engineer with a wealth of experience in the industry. She holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Surrey, UK and an MSc in Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics from the Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine, London, UK.
From 2003 to 2010, she served as the Executive Secretary of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE) and was also the 48th President of the Institution, making history as the first female to hold that position. Her professional experience includes working as a Structural Engineer with the Architectural and Engineering Services Corporation (AESC) and as Director of Education and Training at GhIE.
Ing. Bou-Chedid is a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineers, a member of the Women In Engineering (WiE) Committee of the World Federation of Engineering Organization (WFEO), and a member of the Ghana Earthquake Society. She has received many awards and honours, including the prize for best paper at the Third International Conference on Structural Engineering Analysis and Modelling (SEAM3) for her paper on Structural Failures within the City of Accra. She is also an EERI-GFDRR Housner Fellow, a member of the first class of Fellows selected by the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) with support from the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery. Ing. Bou-Chedid has published several technical papers in her field.
In July 2021, she was appointed as a member of the Governing Board of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). Her expertise and experience make her a valuable addition to the board.
