Ama Boafo-Arthur (PhD) is an accomplished scholar with a strong background in Sociology and Development Studies. She obtained her Bachelor’s and MPhil degrees in Sociology from the University of Ghana, and an MPhil in Development Studies from Cambridge University in the UK. She pursued her doctoral degree in Development Studies at the Institute of Statistical, Social, and Economic Research (ISSER) at the University of Ghana.
Currently, Ama serves as a faculty member and the Coordinator for Student Support and Advisory Services at the Department of Distance Education. She is a driven and dedicated professional with a passion for providing support services that promote the social and academic growth and development of students, youth, and young adults.
Ama’s research interests center on topics such as sexual abuse, adolescence and youth studies, reproductive health, and childhood studies. She aspires to create an environment free from abuse and intimidation and to facilitate open access to information for all. To achieve this goal, she emphasizes advocacy and education as the key drivers of change in Ghana and beyond.
Dr. Ama Boafo-Arthur is ranked in Avance Media’s Inaugural list of Top 100 Ghana’s Women Board Directors collated in partnership with Acreaty Ghana.
