Abena Amoah is a highly accomplished investment banker and financial advisor, and one of Ghana’s leading female businesswomen. She was recently appointed as Deputy Managing Director of the Ghana Stock Exchange on July 15, 2020. In this new role, she oversees the Exchange’s operational activities and supports the Managing Director in defining and implementing the organization’s corporate strategies and plans.
Before her appointment to the Ghana Stock Exchange, Abena was the founder and CEO of Baobab Advisors, a financial advisory services firm that provided expert guidance to clients across the business landscape. Abena has also served on the boards of Wapic Insurance Limited (Ghana), Access Bank Limited (Ghana), and The African Women’s Development Fund, among others.
Abena’s outstanding achievements have been recognized by numerous awards and accolades. In 2006, she received the Newmont Gold Ghana Highest Award for Excellence at the National Youth Excellence Awards. In 2016, she was named one of WomanRising’s 100 Most Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs in Ghana.
Abena holds a first-class honors bachelor’s degree in Administration from the University of Ghana Business School. She received her secondary school education at St Roses Senior High School under the guidance of the German Dominican Nuns in Akwatia, Eastern Region, Ghana.
Throughout her career, Abena has served as a director on several boards, including the Ghana Stock Exchange, the Ghana Venture Capital Trust Fund, Pioneer Aluminium, NewWorld Renaissance Securities, Strategic African Securities, and the Ghana Securities Industry Association. Additionally, she has served as Director and Chairman of the Finance Committee for the African Women’s Development Fund and as a Governor on the Millennium Excellence Awards in 2005.
