Pearl Nkrumah is a Ghanaian businesswoman, lawyer, banker, and corporate executive, currently serving as the Executive Director at Access Bank Ghana Plc, a commercial bank since February 2022. She is the first woman to occupy the position since the bank’s inception in 2009, and she leads the executive management team and serves on the board of directors.
Pearl attended local primary and secondary schools before pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at the University of Ghana, the oldest and largest public university in Ghana. She also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Ghana, and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.
Pearl’s banking career began in 2004 as a bank teller at Standard Chartered Ghana. She gradually progressed through the ranks, serving as an assistant branch manager and business relationship manager, among others. In 2012, she left Standard Chartered Ghana after almost 9 years to join Stanbic Bank Ghana, where she served as Relationship Manager in Commercial Banking before rising to the position of Head of SME banking. During her tenure, she established the Youth Banking Desk, which increased youth financial inclusion, and later became Head of Main Markets, responsible for retail banking, analytics, banking platforms, partnerships, and innovation.
In addition to her executive role at Access Bank Ghana, Pearl has served as a non-executive director on several boards, including Stanbic Bank Tanzania, Ghana Chamber of Mines, and Ghana Club 100.
